2 day Procedural Abortion - 20 weeks to 27 weeks

Day 1

When you arrive at our clinic, you will go through an intake process:

  • complete paperwork
  • have an ultrasound exam
  • complete lab work
  • meet with our patient educator.
    • you will learn what to expect during your procedure
    • you will learn what to expect after your procedure
  • You will have as much time as you’d like to speak with our nurses and physicians to make sure all of your questions are answered.

After the intake process is complete:

  •  You will then be brought to our exam room for a quick pelvic exam and additional medication will be administered to help dilate your cervix overnight.
  • We also might give you an abdominal injection to safely and gently end the pregnancy before the procedure, ensuring everything can be done as comfortably and carefully as possible.
  • We will provide you with several pain medications to keep you comfortable and to minimize the cramping.

Day 2

When you return to our clinic:

  • you will be brought to an exam room to have your water broken
  • After that, the procedure may be completed right away or you may be given additional medications to assist with dilating your cervix more before the procedure.
    • At this time you will receive IV sedation.
  • After the procedure is complete, you will then be in our recovery room for at least 90 minutes before being discharged.
